  • Erl Pettman to teach The Functional Shoulder Girdle in New York City

    Erl Pettman will be coming to New York City to instruct another course for MAPTA in October 2010. He will be teaching his NAIOMT Functional Shoulder Girldle Course over the weekend of October 22-24, 2010 at NYU-Hospital For Joint Disease in New York City.   • Jack Stagge to teach 'Beyond the Slump Test'

    October 23-24, 2010: This 2 day course presents concepts of differential diagnosis and treatment of patients with lower extremity radicular symptoms, pioneered by Bob Elvy, PT, G.D.M.T. Emphasis is placed on precise physical evaluation of neural, articular, and muscular tissues in order to allow for the specific treatment of each. This course is taught by Jack Stagge, PT, O.C.S., FAAOMPT who taught with Bob Elvy for several years.

With this one daily email you can stay up to date on current research hitting the Physical Therapy scene by having access to article abstracts. You then can determine if you wish to pursue the full text article via APTA’s Open Door Portal or other means.

  • Karl Kolbeck to teach The Shoulder Girdle: Medical Screening & Orthopaedic Fundamentals Course

    September 24-26, 2010: Karl Kolbeck through MAPTA and Empiridence Seminars will be offering this 3-day course which will provide a thorough review of organovisceral and sinister pathology capable of presenting as shoulder pain, as well as fundamental orthopaedic knowledge for examination and treatment of the shoulder girdle complex based on current “best” evidence.

    Emphasis will be on region specific pathologies about the sternoclavicular, acromioclavicular and glenohumeral joints as well as the scapulothoracic articulation. Lesions particular to the overhead throwing athlete are also presented and the latest literature disseminated relative to evaluation and treatment. Hands-on lab will included peripheral joint mobilizations and grade 5 HVLATs (high-velocity low-amplitude thrust), soft tissue release and muscle energy techniques, as well as evidence based progressive resistive, OKC/CKC and proprioceptive exercise, taping techniques and patient education.
